Farewell October!

Well, October finally wrapped and we are almost mid-November! The last 3 weeks have been very busy but at last I can share some of our classroom activities with all of you. I'll keep the words to a minimum and let the pictures tell our story.
Here we go!
In preparation for our Pumpkin Patch field trip, we learned how pumpkins grow. We created a poster to show the life cycle of a pumpkin. These were on our hallway bulletin board when you came for conferences!

We learned about mammals when we studied Bats. We will continue animal classification over the year.

The children were interested in the Mexican tradition of Dia de Los Muertos. We discussed the importance of our skeleton so we could understand why a culture would use it in celebration. The children enjoyed creating macaroni skeletons.

We finally got to go on our pumpkin patch field trip...and it seems the delay was all for the best. It was an absolutely beautiful, crisp, Fall, day. Thank you to all of the chaperones who made this trip possible!

1st Time on the Bus buddies!

 The Hay Maze

 Giant Sandbox!

 Instructions before seeing the animals....

We are off to get our pumpkins!

We even had time for the playground...

Thanks to Sarah Simmons for this great shot!
Back at school, in addition to academics, we enjoy art activities. Art strengthens fine motor skills and opens creativity. Easel art builds shoulder strength, which is very important for writing! Easel art is a
an open process, the children paint what they feel on that day.

And we'll close with one of our favorite activities with Mr. Kirby...Parachute Games!

We hope to be able to have a little puppet play for you all to see the day before Thanksgiving. It would be near dismissal time...11:30ish. (volunteer clearance needed!) I'll keep you posted on a go/no go as things unfold.

Profound thanks to all who have served....and that includes families!

We'll see you on Tuesday!
