It's April!

Spring is here at last! We had so many activities last month, let's get right to it:

We started by visiting the Paramount Theater to see Beauty and The Beast. One of our vocabulary words was 'fancy,' and the Paramount certainly is! Just looking at the beautiful surroundings of a real 'live' theater building made the whole trip worthwhile. Thank you to all of our chaperones for keeping us safe and together!

St. Patrick's day had lots of fun activities, including a treasure hunt at recess.
At the end of the day, Mrs. Baker brought in Adam's young chickens to pet! Thanks Mrs. Baker!

We read one of my favorite stories, Swimmy, by Leo Leonni. Swimmy is a fish who loses his school but discovers the wide undersea world. He finds another timid fish school and teaches them how to work together to stay safe and enjoy the beauties of the ocean.  Using the crayon-resist method, the children enjoyed drawing and water-coloring their undersea visions.

Puzzles have become a new favorite during free choice time. It's one of my favorite activities too. So satisfying when you are done!

Losing our front teeth is a huge developmental marker. Some say it signals opportunity for new brain growth since the brain is not so focused on growing teeth. Congratulations Ryder!
Our last day of school before break was our field trip to the Police Station. It was a lovely day for a walk....and it was a great test run for our end of year walk to the beach!
Our school resource officer, Officer Hamrick, was our host.
We started in the press pool room, with an introduction, and display of police equipment. Later we got to ask questions.

It was good to see Adam who was able to join us briefly during his tonsilectomy recovery.
We did a walking tour through the building and then we got to walk through the police car! Said one student, "It isn't very comfortable back there!"

We return to school this Monday. On Friday, we will have a visit from The Fire Department!

Only 50 days of school remain! They will go by quickly. I will have information on Kindergarten Graduation soon. Remember, Mrs. Gonzales’ Music Evening is Tuesday April 23rd @6pm. Children should arrive by 5:50. Information from Mrs. G. went home in Thursday envelopes just before our break. Let me know if you need another.

I hope you all had a _______Spring Break.
A. fun
B. restful
C. productive
D. all of the above

See you Monday!
