Marching into April

Spring Break is drawing to a close so let's take a look back at our experiences leading up to break.

We learned about volcanoes mid month. We created a flip book with facts about the 3 different types of volcanoes and did a Readers Theater reading. The children were placed into 3 groups and given a role. We did 2 table readings during small group time, and then time was set aside for groups to work together and practice.

The children presented in front of the class. As we watched, we observed the presenters, looking for which teams were prepared and which might need more practice.

The children also enjoyed drawing and painting their own active volcano. Special thanks to Mara's grandmother who helped us during this activity.

We learned about biographies! The children shopped in our classroom from a wide variety of biographies and selected one that they would enjoy reading.

We had such a good time presenting our animal reports! I am so proud of all of the children for doing their best work and many of them, pushing through shyness to speak in front of a group alone.

Claire even went further and built a bat house with her dad.
We also got to see the Army Band!

And now it's time to return to school.
This Friday we have family fun with the Art/Science walk at school starting at 6pm.
Cheetah Walk and fundraiser for the Cheetah Conservation Fund is on the 20th.
Have a great Sunday.
See you Monday morning,
